STRUNG OUT/ BELVEDERE (Report - Ljubljana, Gala Hala, 05.05.2025.)

Monday evening was punk night in Ljubljana! After a long time Strung Out had a gig that was not part of the festival, but an old school club gig.

This was a part of their European tour with Belvedere, a Canadian punk rock band.

First part of the night was reserved for Steve and guys. They did great job warming up, as the Gala Hala was already mostly full. Technically perfect, full of energy Belvedere sounded stronger than the last time I saw them. I love Steve's voice! And even though some would say they are playing/experimenting with metal, they were punk as fuck this time!

And then Strung Out stepped out. I had mixed emotions about their gig, as I always do. I really love this band, but listening to them live is a bit of a lottery! You never know! So I don't expect much and I don't get disappointed. But also, love being surprised by them! So as I said - with these guys you just never know!

And at the first song I was like "ok, this will be one of those gigs", but then something happened! Was it the sound guy, or Rob and the rest of the guys, or Jason warmed up properly, but after the first one they sounded good. Really good! Melodic, fast, in sink! Rob is not only a great guitarist, but an excellent vocal. As always he pulled a great chunk of the vocals. They played EXILE IN OBLIVION from the beginning to the end, the whole album and than a few more. As it is my personal favourite album it is needless to say I was stoked! Hearing them play SCARLET and ANGELDUST and SKELETONDANSE, VAMPIRES; ANNA LEE... unbelievable!!! They finished the show with FIRECRACKER, BRING OUT YOUR DEAD and MATCHBOOK.

It was one the best STRUNG OUT gigs for me, and I saw them many times...

Thank you Belvedere, thank you Strung Out! And thank you Gala Hala - my favourite music venue. I spent half of my life at that place... inside and at the summer stage. Hope to see you soon!
