INTERVIEW: MISCONDUCT (PUNK ROCK HOLIDAY 2.2)

Misconduct are no strangers to Punk Rock Holiday, and I believe the love is mutual. This year, besides having a hell of the show on main stage, they also did the acoustic set the day before, and it was fantastic! This guys also have their own beer STAY TRUE, and is soooo good!!! They did some releases in the last two years...well, you can say that they have been busy!

I had a privilege of speaking to Fredrik Olsson, singer and a guitar player at Misconduct.

Hi! So...what's new?

Hello...well, everything is new!

You've been on the scene for a long time now, right? Since 1995? You've had a lot of changes in the band and a lot going on in the last two years. But when I tried to find out more about you I couldn't. What is it about you, web and the social media?

Well, yes, it was like that, it's true, but we are now getting more and more active. We are stepping up the game. We are typical bend that was build up by people talking mouth to mouth, and people spread the name just by talking, but we totally sucked at social media. But now, at last couple of months we are trying to be more active and are trying to give more of our personal side. I wrote a song the other day and I finished the lyrics the day before yesterday and I was euphoric and said you have to film me, and I don't usually do this, I don't give away songs before they are recorded, but I said I need to get this out cause I want to play it and I want it to be heard...So he filmed me and I played like a rough acoustic demo, and this song is about Punk Rock Holiday, about Punk Rock Holiday as a symbol for family, coming together, the unity. It's because there is no other festival where we get to hang out with so many friends that play in bands and also be so close to the fans, and the people who are behind this festival we 've known for almost 15 years now and it is a great relationship and so I've put my heart out and wrote lyrics about Punk Rock Holiday. The song will be called Punk Rock Summer.

And this is your third or fourth time here?

I think fourth...

How would you compare those four times playing here?

I think something happened when we played here in 2015. It became bigger...like it exploded...and then even more in 2018, so we are really looking forward playing tonight. We were confirmed in 2019 for 2020., but then Covid happened...

I was meaning to ask you, do you feel like the „unity“ was stronger before pandemic or is it stronger now?

I think it is maybe in some ways stronger now, because people don't take stuff for granted any more...people are now very hungry for the live shows, but I hope that people will remember past few years and not take life for granted, we should be grateful for the small things in life.

Can you tell me a little bit about what you've been doing for the last two years?

We've been touring very little, but we did stay in touch and we did two live streaming shows. That was strange, you know...playing in front of no one, for people that are at home that you don't see...and that was when we realized that we need to step up the game on social medias because this is the way to connect with the fans now that we cannot go out and play anymore...

You had two releases in the last couple of years?

Yes...well three actually...We released "One step closer", reissue, that was like a ten years anniversary, and that was in a way why we did the live stream as well, because we had a ten years anniversary. Plus, we had also 25th anniversary as a band, so we wanted to celebrate that. We released "Like the old days" album and we released "This is my way album".

"This is my way" is a split album from before?

"This is my way" is the split album we did before, we took the songs, remastered them and then throw in four unreleased songs, so it's a split plus four unreleased songs.

And "Like the old days"?

Those are like never before released, demo songs, some written like 26 years ago that we decided to put out.

What are your plans after Punk Rock Holiday?

We have three more shows on this tour, and then we start it all over again in September.

Ok. So I wish you a great show tonight and I'm looking forward to hearing "Punk rock summer"...

We will be playing a piece of it for sure...we can't wait to play Punk Rock Holiday again...and after the show I'll bring you a couple of Misconduct beers...I've just put them to chill, so...after the show!

Thanks, see you after the show!
