JAYA THE CAT/ THE BENNIES (Report - GALA HALA, Ljubljana, 16.03.2026.)
Somehow I associate Jaya with summer, so this one felt different! Monday evening, it was cold and rainy in Ljubljana. I expected it to be just a few of us, brave and stupid enough to go to a show as it was pouring outside. But I was so wrong! Gala Hala was full. There was a bunch of us from Croatia and I met a nice couple from Serbia that came just for this gig. Respect!
It was around half past eight when The Bennies jumped on that stage and started their show. It was the first time I saw them and I didn't really know what to expect. From the beginning to the end they were unbelievable! That level of energy is unreal!!! Fast, melodic, crazy! If you get a chance - go see them! They ran through the set, with some covers on the way, and after a short break it was time for the main thing.
As I said, Jaya The Cat brings memories of summer, so to see them at the indoor venue was a bit strange, but also more intimate. More or less familiar set list, we danced with every chord for over an hour! "Wine Stained Futon", "Hello Hangover", "Amsterdam", "Huddersfield Rain" and many more kept us dancing and warm on that cold and rainy Monday night. For a few hours it was summer and we were carefree and everything was good! And the band and the man himself were in such a good mood so no matter how tired or down you were - it couldn't last for long. That sunny energy just rubbed on everyone! With soap bubbles and reggae, whiskey and beer, for a few hours I was in my happy place. It was one of the best birthday parties I've ever had!
Great night! Great gig!!!
