MAD CADDIES (Report - GALA HALA, Ljubljana, 02.07.2025.)

It was Wednesday evening, hot as hell, as we came to Ljubljana. GALA HALA/Summer stage and MAD CADDIES, it took me back in time! As the night was falling, the venue was getting crowded and just after 21:00h the lights from the stage lit up and the venue exploded!

Mad Caddies are a ska, punk, dixie band from California, and are well known for their energetic gigs and sing a longs, but this one will outshine most of their shows (and I've been to so many over the years)!

This time there were no bullshits, they were in such a good place and fun and sounded in sync!

And the set list...oh, the set list was PERFECT!!! One hour and thirty minutes of pure happiness!

One new, one from the DIRTY RICE ("Shoot Out The Lights"), and many from QALITY SOFT CORE and DUCK AND COVER, some from ROCK THE PLANK and JUST ONE MORE... 

As Chuck said it - punks in Slovenia like the old stuff! And so do we in Croatia!

"Distress", "Goleta", "The Bell Tower", "Leavin", "Road Rush", "Mary Melody", "Villains", "Lay Your Head Down", then the usual ones like "Drinking For 11", "Monkeys" and traditionally the last one "All American Badass", this was a hell of a show!

It was a full house, but not overcrowded, and what made me happy were the kids! There was a lot of young ones, from ten to eighteen years, dancing and singing, it felt good! This is our legacy! And my heart was full from just being at that venue, that place where I have spent so many nights and met some of my closest friends today. Friends of twenty something years! This for me is the best venue for open space gigs, summer gigs, and I am happy to see it come back to life!

Over all, this was a night to remember, one of those gigs where you forget to record, so I have like one song on video, and that's ok! This gig I will play in my head for a while.
